About Daniel Stockemer

I am a Full Professor and the Konrad Adenauer Research Chair in Empirical Democracy Studies in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa. I strive to be a world-class researcher, engaged scholar, and motivated teacher. I have a particular passion for research. There is nothing more exciting than generating new knowledge and sharing it with others. I try to do this in the fields of political participation, political representation, populism, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methods. Since becoming a professor in 2010, I have published 5 single authored book, 2 edited volume, 1 textbook and more than 175 articles in peer reviewed journals in these fields. Among others, my articles have appeared in the European Journal of Political Research, Political Behavior, and Public Opinion Quarterly. I also try to serve the discipline in various ways. For instance, I am editor of the International Political Science Review (IPSR), the flagship journal of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) and the Springer Book Series in Electoral Politics. As a teacher, I have tried to stimulate students' interest through a practical hands on approach to teaching, and a passion to share new knowledge with the leaders of tomorrow. I have been particularly innovative in creating new and exciting learning opportunities and courses. For instance, I have created several field research courses in Germany and Belgium, as well as built a class on editing and publishing in the Social Sciences. My newest project is the creation of a summer school in survey research in conjunction with the Angus Reid Institute.
