About Daniel Straka

Hello! My name is Daniel "Dan" Straka and I am from Munster, IN. I graduated with a degree from the White Lodging School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University Northwest, Hammond, IN. in December 2019. Immediately following graduation, I started my career working as a Field Organizer for an Indiana State Representative's Campaign. Following the campaign, I set my focus back on my Hospitality background working for my family's ice cream and candy shop and serving as a Banquet Manager at a local hall in Munster. I am still regularly involved in the day-to-day operations at my family's shop and continue to find new ways to help drive traffic to our business, especially during the pandemic. For the last year and a half, I spent my time driving across Indiana connecting with Hoosiers while serving as a Regional Field Director for a United States Senator's campaign. I have found a great love for connecting with new people and creating meaningful relationships with others. As I think about my career and education, I have found that my connection with the service industry does not stop at restaurants and banquet halls. For me, Hospitality and Politics have always gone hand in hand and with each new job I take, I continue to learn more about myself, while also smiling along the way. At 27 years old it is not always easy to find where you fit best in the world but as new jobs come and go the connections that I make with coworkers, customers, and voters will last a lifetime.
