About Daniel Tajik

I completed my Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering at McMaster University in April 2022. Specifically, I focused on utilizing microwave technologies to image in the near-field region of targets for applications in medical diagnostics and concealed weapons detection. My major contribution is the development of an imaging algorithm known as Quantitative Microwave Holography, which is planned for use in early-detection breast cancer screening. I interned at Apple Inc. with an incredible team of antenna and radio-frequency (RF) engineers, assisting in the design, prototyping, testing, and mass production of antennas in consumer products. During my undergraduate degree, I interned at GE Water and Process Technologies, designing power and control systems for large water treatment facilities. Finally, I am the communications team lead for the McMaster University NEUDOSE CubeSat mission funded by the Canadian Cubesat Project. As the team lead, I have implemented and tested both ground station and satellite hardware and software while managing a group of 5-15 undergraduate and graduate members. My interests in microwave/RF engineering include: antenna design and fabrication, imaging and detection algorithms, RF hardware development, Fourier-based reconstruction algorithms, and wireless communications. At the conclusion of my Ph.D. I will be looking to work in industries related biomedical and space applications.
