About Daniel Vince

Originally from the UK, I grew up in Carinthia (Austria) and moved to Graz for my studies in Construction Management and Engineering at the FH Joanneum. Starting my career, in a traditional fashion as a construction technician, and working my way up to a construction manager, I soon began to realise that the construction industry is stuck in „Silo-Thinking“ and struggling with innovation and productivity. On my search for solutions, timber construction struck my attention and I eventually started working for a leading timber construction company in Styria as a project manager. One of my projects was the „Reininghaus Quartier 7“ - the largest residential timber construction project in Styria by that time. My journey continued with an MBA at the WU Exectuive Academy in Vienna. This post graduate program equips me with a sound understanding of business administration, as well as leadership skills. Through my master thesis I also touched on the „Silo-Thinking“- issue, by research into Alliancing and IPD. A topic that is picking up speed in the construction industry. Most recently I started working for UBM Development in a dual role - a project manager for real estate development and an internal consultant for timber construction. UBM is at the spearhead of large timber construction real estate developments in Europe, with a strong focus on „green“ (sustainable) developments. Among other extraordinary timber projects, I am especially honoured to be part of the project team, developing the world’s highest timber skyscraper - Timber Marina Tower in Vienna. I am happily married, a proud father and live with my family in Vienna.
