About Daniel Vizcaino

Started out in Kansas as a welder/pipe-fitter, was then offered a roustabout position outside the organization that offered less pay but with benefits. Like most I started out building tank batteries and doing maintenance on pumping units. A few years later I got promoted to a lease operator, learned about pump-on controllers, start capacitors, phase convertors, downhole tubing, casing, and rods After a few years in the lease operator position I got promoted to measurement tech. In this position I learned about the importance of calibrating the transmitters correctly and using the correct sizing of the oriface plate. We utilized rose-mount and bristol transmitters for the gas measurement. Unfortunately our company sold out and we were laid off, I went to work for a small company that gave me an opportunity as a floor hand on the workover rigs. It was a different side of the oil field but I did what was needed to provide for my family. I then took an opportunity in West Texas as a facility operator for a midstream company. Here I learned about NG compression, facility process, PSM regulations, oil/gas flow path, C&E’s, P & ID’s, Scada systems, alarm rationalization, SOP’s, JT effect, hydrates, control room duties, etc. After a few years in the operations role, I then took an automation position within the company. Here I gained knowledge about electricity, several different types of end device’s, HMI’s, PLC’c, wiring, relays, total flows. I was excited about this position because this type of work was related to what I was learning in college. About a year later I was promoted to foreman which is my current role within the company. Also I am the #SafeStart Champion for the WTX assets and I am heavily involved with the safety dept
