About Daniel Weed

Who I Help and How: My skills are directed to working with the histories of local events and communities. Some examples of history I'm engaged in are Indigenous people's history, the history of early 20th century labor in Detroit, and housing advertisements after the Second World War. I help my clients make historical exhibits more user interactive through the usage of digital methods of curation and presentation. Institutions that work with me: I have worked with the Detroit Historical Society's oral history collection of the 1967 Riot that happened in Detroit. Organizations such as community centers and cultural centers are ideal with my ethos because of the shared desire to preserve history that is more relevant for cultural purposes. I want to work with other institutions that want to expand the limits of how their collections can be accessed for the public and for research purposes. What I have to offer: I have experience organizing metadata for digital collections with Omeka. I am proficient using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I am proficient with audio and visual editing software such as Audacity and AVID Technology. I have a moderate language proficiency in Spanish.
