About Daniel Whittaker

Daniel Whittaker is a “retired” hospitality professional who’s unique projects began during his time at The University of Alabama. In 2007, he co-founded Green Planet Catering, the nation's first certified B Corp catering company. The brand continues on having been sold in 2020. In 2011, he launched Whittaker Consulting, specializing in assisting companies focused on local food, sustainability, and community education. Daniel's versatility shone in 2015 when he established The Pharmacy Cafe, a neighborhood hotspot housed in a historic downtown Raleigh pharmacy. In September 2019, he introduced Farmhouse Cafe in Wendell, serving fresh, local food and a focus on fostering community connections. During the 2020 shutdown, Daniel collaborated with Josh Daniel Music, overseeing booking, creative direction, merchandise design, and online content management. Notable accolades include being a former 40-Under-40 Award winner and one of Cary, NC Magazine's Movers & Shakers in 2015. His dedication to environmental sustainability earned him the title of Green Advocate of the Year from the City of Raleigh, NC. Lately a new career path has emerged in the lodging side of hospitality as Daniel continues to work with campgrounds across the country managing facilities, staff and partnerships. Beyond his professional achievements, Daniel's adventurous side emerged. Since August 2021, he's explored the country, living in a custom-built van, visiting 37 National Parks, scaling state's highest peaks, rock climbing Half Dome, paddling the Tieton River, and biking Moab's slick rock while documenting his journey on social media.
