About Daniel Willingham

My work experience timeline covers from 1989 to today. Started at the bottom as a helper however didn't stay there. Wanted to learn and grow, through those years began to learn every job and position I could. Grew from a helper to running flex through attics, installing boots, running line sets, cutting forming and installing duct board trunk lines, setting equipment, and installing the registers. This was in the beginning when the company was doing 90% residential houses and apartments. As the company grew and housing market took a hit the company shifted toward bid & spec commercial. This began new challenges to learn new skills. Started building and installing sheet-metal trunks, lay in registers, larger tonnage systems, installing curbs for units, exhaust systems, commercial grease hoods, welded grease duct, stainless back splashes for hoods, walk in coolers, walk in freezers, ice machines, VAV systems, zoning systems, basic electrical, basic plumbing, controls, service, diagnosing, repairing and so much more. During this time also learning Commercial building codes, energy codes, how to read blueprints, take materials off blueprints, material ordering & staging, submitals, estimating, job management, job scheduling, negotiating with vendors, project management, value engineering, design build, designing complete systems and permitting. Probably the most important skill learned was working with people. You have to be able to work and communicate with other subs on the job, subs that you might hire, contractors, super intendants, project managers, building departments, employees, vendors, and inspectors.
