About Daniel Wong

Daniel Wong is an art therapist and researcher with over 18 years of experience, driven by a deep belief in the transformative potential of creativity for healing and growth. Working with diverse populations in Australia, Thailand, and Singapore, he incorporates psychoanalytic ideas into his practice, gently guiding people to explore their inner experiences through hands-on creative processes. This often involves working with tactile materials like fabric, yarns and found objects and materials – transforming them through assemblage, collage, and bricolage as a way to express emotions, explore relationships, and process difficult life events. Alongside his clinical work, Daniel is dedicated to art therapy education, research, and clinical supervision. He enjoys contributing to these areas through his involvement with organisations like the Art Therapy Foundation Thailand, the Art Therapists' Association Thailand, and Western Sydney University's Master of Art Therapy program. He is also a co-editor of The "Journal of Creative Arts Therapies, the journal of the Australia, New Zealand, and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association. In 2021, he co-edited the book "Found Objects in Art Therapy: Materials and Process" with Ronald Lay. Daniel finds it deeply rewarding to provide clinical supervision to other art therapists.
