About Daniel Ying

I am a data-driven public health graduate and an insightful coder who is passionate about creating practical applications that will improve people's health and help them grow. My dive into Computer Science and programming was a pleasant and rewarding surprise. I always thought my future career was to be a researcher, publishing my newest results from my lab experiments and working with the Department of Health in improving the general public's health. This plan seemed appropriate given my Public Health bachelor's degree. But for some reason, I felt the imagery of me wearing a lab coat was missing a spark. I was yearning for something more. The spark I was looking for ignited on the day I decided to enter a programming bootcamp. I was immediately captivated. The time I practiced programming outside of class went from 2 hours then became 6 hours, but I was not satisfied with just a few weeks of boot camp. After much thought, I knew what I must do: to return to college and earn a master's degree in Computer Science. I love to take on challenges, and broadening my knowledge of computer language. Some of the most satisfying moments for me was understanding and applying lines of codes that once seemed no better than hieroglyphics, then helping others to learn how to use those codes in their own program.
