About Daniela C.

As the South American Editor at The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), I lead and coordinate a team of investigative journalists who report on the organized crime networks, corrupt officials, and environmental crimes that affect the region. With more than nine years of experience in this field, I have developed strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for exposing the truth and holding the powerful accountable. I have a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the City University of New York (CUNY), where I specialized in international and investigative reporting and video storytelling. I also have a bachelors degree in Political Science and a certificate in Economics from the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. I have studied the armed conflict and the drug trade in Colombia and have covered and told stories from Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as from Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I believe that rigorous and reliable journalism can enhance our understanding of key issues, serve as a direct way to diffuse information and increase awareness about the problems impacting society.
