About Daniela Costa

I am an enthusiastic researcher in the field of osteoarthritis, with a focus on public health approaches and implementation science. I am currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where I study the integration of social prescribing into the healthcare management of people living with osteoarthritis. I hold a PhD in Public Health (specialization in Epidemiology), an MSc in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, and a BSc in Physiotherapy. Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the EpiDoC Unit, NOVA Medical School – Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, and as a Professor in BSc and MSc Physiotherapy programmes at Escola Superior de Saúde do Alcoitão and Escola Superior de Saúde of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. I am also an integrated member of the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC) – Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. As a practicing physiotherapist across different healthcare sectors, I developed a strong interest in designing and implementing real-world, evidence-based strategies to improve care for people with chronic conditions.
