About Daniela Hermelin

My passion is #Blooducation: teaching and sharing transfusion medicine knowledge to help grow our field and advance medicine for the now and for tomorrow. Visit my website: More about me: I am a board-certified pathologist who specializes in Transfusion Medicine and Cell Therapy. I work full-time as the Chief Medical Officer of ImpactLife Blood Center and an Assistant Professor of Pathology at St. Louis University School of Medicine. I formerly served as the Medical Director of Transfusion Services at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, the institution where I completed my residency in anatomic and clinical pathology followed by a fellowship in Blood Banking/Transfusion. I am proud to have been the recipient of the AABB 2019 President’s Award in recognition of my role as a master educator and leadership in the use of social media, particularly Twitter. Today, I serve as the Social Media Editor for Transfusion Medicine Reviews Journal, the committee chair of the AABB Social Media Committee, and Co-Producer of Transfusion News #Blooducation Baristas Podcast. When I'm not engaged in bloody things, I keep busy with my husband raising 6 children, ages 9 through 18.
