Strategic | Maximizer | Winning Others Over | Activator | Adaptability I am currently the chief of staff to the superintendent of the Harris County Department of Education, providing highly specialized services to area schools, students, and organizations to close the gaps in public education-16 Early Childhood locations -Afterschool, summer and enrichment programming across Harris County in partnership with ISDs and nonprofits -K-12 physical, occupational, and music therapies across Harris County -4 Special Schools for special education and alternative education needs, serving more than 30 ISDs - Adult Education and workforce preparation programs serving more than adults in our community -Teacher and Principal certification, leadership preparation, and classroom mentorship -Choice Partners purchasing cooperative, saving government and community organizations time and money in procurement services -Center for Safe & Secure Schools staff training and physical campus safety audits, preparing our community for Harris County emergencies - Education Foundation support for area students and educators As an award-winning collegiate athlete and then as a coach at the University of Texas, I helped build highly competitive teams and was honored as part of the 2015 CRCA National Coaching Staff of the Year. I did project management in the private sector before getting my Master’s of Public Affairs from the LBJ School. As the Director of Boards and Commissions for Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner, I advised the mayor on the 150 boards, commissions, and committees regulating the nation’s most diverse city. I have been teaching young women about government and citizenship since 2004.
