Maya Angelou I started my early career as a mental health social worker for chronically mentally ill adults. I provided case management services as a community liaison for people in need; I also developed and taught day treatment classes to promote client independence. After furthering my education to earn a Masters Degree in Education for Occupational Therapy, I was able to work in a variety of settings as an O.T. My desire for tangible results-oriented outcomes naturally led me to the amazing world of orthopedics. I earned the privilege of becoming a Certified Hand Therapist. While currently employed as a CHT at FirstHealth of the Carolinas, I am committed to integrating compassionate care with cutting edge practices, to foster healing and maximize patient potential. I found my way back to this to organization after several years away, and am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a caring team of professionals. Previously, at OrthoCarolina, I excelled in providing top-tier hand therapy, as a Certified Hand Therapist. I was hired to start up a new clinic, managing intricate orthopedic upper extremity conditions while collaborating with in-house physicians to optimize outcomes. I am one of the lucky ones to have found a calling which has allowed me to cultivate my passion and caregiving heart in the healthcare field for over 27 years. Personal drive, effective communication and optimistic / creative thinking have enabled me to guide clients towards positive change. I am ready to take my skills and experience to a different platform, and grow with your organization by touching lives and making a difference.
