Background
About Danielle Cadet
Over the last decade, Danielle Cadet has dedicated her career to serving multicultural audiences and developing an expertise in the multicultural digital media space. Cadet most recently joined Netflix overseeing editorial direction for Strong Black Lead, the company's brand dedicated to serving black audiences. Before Netflix, Cadet served as Vice-President, Content Strategy and Development and Managing Editor of R29Unbothered, Refinery29’s fastest growing Instagram channel and digital community catering to Black, millennial women. Danielle played a pivotal role in expanding, growing, and innovating the brand beyond social media. She developed a full editorial slate, including a podcast that was named Adweek’s 2020 Podcast of the Year and was nominated for a National Magazine Award. She also worked to create a pipeline generating $2 million in revenue working with brands like Toyota, Proctor & Gamble, and Target. She joined Refinery29 from ESPN where she launched The Undefeated, a site that explores the intersection of race, sports and culture. While there she oversaw the daily editorial operations as Deputy Editor. Prior to ESPN, Cadet worked at The Huffington Post Black Voices where she led breaking news coverage of several national stories, including the Trayvon Martin murder case in Florida and the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. She has a keen insight into the consumption habits of digital consumers and multicultural readers. Cadet holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has been included on Ebony's list of “8 Dynamic Black Women Editors in New Media,” The Big Lead's 40 Under 40 Behind the Scenes in Sports Media, and Folio magazine's min Rising Stars.
