About Danielle Daveant

As an art educator, it is my responsibility to be a guide for students. Whether it is guiding them through a discussion on a specific artwork or simply giving guidance through the difficulties of life, my students will always have my support. The art classroom is a place of exploration and discovery through many different channels. While exploring many new and diverse topics through art, students must understand that the art room is a safe environment for them to express their ideas and questions without judgment. Once students are able to freely voice themselves to one another, it is my job to push divergent thinking in the classroom. Divergent thinking is a skill that everyone should have in today’s modern world. With so many advances in technology, communication, job fields, etc, students need to be able to think in original and innovative ways. Through my curriculum, I will be able to show students that there is more than one right answer to every question or problem they will encounter. By exploring materials, trying new techniques and creating personally interesting pieces, students will express themselves through each mark they make. It is important for students to feel free to create without the anxiety of negative judgment from their peers. Without the fear of being wrong, students will dig deeper and deeper into the possibilities life has to offer. As divergent thinkers, students will be able to go out into the world as creative people who will have the ability to be contributing parts of society. I am a tool for my students to use, helping guide them through life’s possibilities with the medium of art.
