As a Senior Policy Analyst at the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), I am committed to advancing science- and evidence-based policies that address critical issues in agriculture and rural development. My portfolio encompasses a diverse range of topics, including- Animal health and welfare, with a focus on veterinary medicine- Science policy, including antimicrobial resistance and synthetic biology for agriculture- Lab-made commodities and their implications for the agricultural sector- Species at risk legislation- Trespassing and wildlife issuesIn addition to my role at OFA, I recently concluded my tenure on the Board of Directors at Ontario Equestrian, where I served as Chair for three years. Ontario Equestrian, the Provincial-Territorial Sport Organization, is dedicated to promoting equestrian sport, delivering impactful programs, and establishing safe and equitable practices for equine and human athletes alike.I hold a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph, where I specialized in ruminant nutrition. My thesis explored the interactions of dietary roughage source and level in the finishing diets of beef cattle, alongside the effects of the beta-adrenergic agonist ractopamine hydrochloride (Optaflexx). Additionally, I designed and conducted a comparative trial examining conventional finishing methods (including growth implants and ionophores) against natural production systems.I am deeply passionate about my work and continually strive to expand my knowledge in animal nutrition, health, genetics, and data analysis.
