About Danielle Griffith

I’m a graduate of San Francisco State University with a BS in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, passionate about revolutionizing education and communication through speech technology and AI. I’ll begin graduate studies September 2025 at Queen Mary University of London, where I’ll focus on natural language processing, machine learning, and speech recognition to develop tools that empower diverse communities. My journey began with a desire to address systemic inequities, such as the misdiagnosis of Black students speaking African American Vernacular English (AAVE). Now, I’m expanding that focus to ensure speech technology is inclusive, culturally aware, and accessible to all. Highlights of my experience include co-leading a conversation club for Black adults with aphasia, presenting research on cultural sensitivity in speech therapy, and mentoring students with diverse needs, and teaching K-12. My ultimate goal is to create and understand the role AI-driven tools that enhance communication and foster equity in education and accessibility, ethically.
