Beginning as a cardiac float pool nursing assistant at the Cleveland Clinic, rated #1 in cardiology for 23 years, I gained valuable experience in providing quality patient care. I transitioned to be a registered nurse on a cardiothoracic unit at the Cleveland Clinic. I sought opportunities to be a nurse leader, acting as a charge nurse and becoming a Vascular Access Resource Nurse. I then broadened my scope of nursing by becoming a travel nurse. After 2 diverse travel assignments, I honed my ability to adapt, merge swiftly into the healthcare team, and treat patients with compassion and confidence. I am privileged to now be a nurse at MD Anderson, where “making cancer history” is our motto. I spend much of my day assisting patients to navigate the complex healthcare system. As Quality and Safety Chair for our unit and as Quality PACT member for our institution, I have become increasingly engaged in quality improvement. I have found a passion for implementing projects to improve satisfaction and safety for both employees and patients.
