About Danielle Lowen

By integrating my knowledge and respect for the tangible objects that speak of one's culture, I want to bring this perspective to the museum setting. By focusing attention to the detail and care of the objects I hope to be a part of the curation or collections departments that help maintain the quality of these important, and educational objects. Additionally I want to specialize in repatriation where I can design a program that allows an option for museums to have a replicate, and the original artifacts the option to be claimed by the affiliated group when it is right and truthful. de Young Museum Intern San Francisco, California Involved with the Museum Education program specifically designed for the special exhibitions. A multi-tasking position created to help the docents and the museum education employees run the program smoothly for an optimal learning experience for school-age children 1st through 12th. Clarke Museum Volunteer – Eureka, California Under the direction of Dr. Dale Ann Sherman, prepared and helped design display cases for Native American cultural objects. Gained additional experience in handling, cleaning, and preservation of cultural items. Specialties: Computer: MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, File Maker Pro, Adobe Photoshop Artifact Processing and Analysis: Washing, measuring, cataloging and curation of artifacts; shellfish species, lithic, and historic bottle identification; and Olivella shell bead classification.
