About Danielle Nishida

As a paraplegic woman, I have gained an understanding and appreciation for life's most difficult moments. I have overcome mentally debilitating obstacles and severe physical ailments with a positive attitude and respect for life. My resilience, loyalty, and determination are evident as I have received acknowledgment and gained advancements within my careers. Volunteer work at Blanch Reynolds Elementary School and Ventura County Medical Center has enlightened and encouraged me. As a student of the mental health sector, I pay close attention to both the emotional and educational needs of the children and I am careful to recognize the different personality characteristics and hardships of each child whether it be developmentally, emotionally, or socially. At VCMC I utilized my personal experience, interpersonal skills, and humble demeanor to help people through their hardest and most vulnerable moments. This experience allowed me to gain extensive knowledge about mental health, trauma, and family hardships. I helped both patients and families with life threatening traumas and acceptance of inevitable death. I was also trusted with highly confidential incident reports and developing a classification system with the lead patient safety physician. Currently I work as a Clinical Director and Teletherapy Clinician where I use a multitude of interventions, such as (but not limited to): social skills training, CBT, DBT, integrative therapy, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, and supportive therapy. Overall, I am passionate about people and making a difference; that is where my focus is and will always be.
