About Danielle Riegle
In April, 2019 I permanently joined the Sterilization Analytical + Materials Science (SAMS) R&D division at Bausch + Lomb in Rochester, NY. My focus is on biocompatibility testing of medical devices and the use of general analytical characterization techniques in accordance with ISO standards. More recently, I've taken on project leadership opportunities as I have transitioned from lab work to a SAMS group biocompatibility subject matter expert (SME) who provides recommendations for biocompatibility testing for surgical medical devices on multiple project teams. I defended my Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Rochester in February, 2019. My research focused on the synthesis, characterization, and utilization of low molecular weight amino acid hydrogelators and self-assembling β-sheet peptides as biomaterials. My previous education and research experience at RIT (MS, 2012) and Niagara University (BS, 2010) focused on traditional organic synthesis and characterization of various compounds.
