About Danielle Rintala

As part of the leadership team within the Office of the Vice President for Research, I strive to support our growing expenditures as part of a top tier research institution. I work with a small team to monitor short and long-term research risks, investigate issues of research non-compliance, support a culture of research compliance, manage the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) program, oversee the Export Controls and International Projects program, and Manage the Certified Approver Program. The CA Program is unique to UMN- it prepares finance and sponsored projects staff to review and approve financial transactions in sponsored projects research to mitigate financial risks. Prior roles are focused in research compliance leadership and biosafety. I have experience in leadership over the staff of the IACUC, Animal Care Program, IRB, and IBC for an R1 institution, as well as biosafety program development. In 2019, I began consulting on the side for smaller organizations and start-up companies as a biosafety consultant to help support a culture of safety and compliance in their workspace. I also have a decade of experience in full-time instruction in university, career college, and technical college programs, with teaching, course development/ design, and leadership experience in microbiology, anatomy & physiology, biochemistry, and pathophysiology, primarily to nursing and dental hygiene students.
