About Danielle Swirsky

As a Mental Health Worker at PHS Community Services Society, I support residents in maintaining housing, recovery, and shelter services within a housing first and harm reduction based framework. I often support residents through crisis situations related to opioid overdose, mental health, or dangerous persons. A key to success in this role is follow through and collaboration with appropriate professionals with best interest of the people we support. I have a diploma in Child and Youth Care Counselling and over two years of experience as a Program Supervisor at Roots Youth Shelter. Recruiting, training, and empowering a team of individuals with dynamic skill sets were responsibilities which I took care in. I’ve also taken on many managerial duties such as completing organization accreditation interviews and documentation. I’ve developed skills such as effective communication, youth advocacy and engagement, suicide prevention, and allowing space for people to be seen and heard. I look forward to building connections that support our cities vulnerable and marginalized population.
