About Danielle Varley

Second-year PhD student with a focus in sustainable agriculture. My current research centers on unraveling the complexities of multispecies grassland mixtures, employing advanced statistical models to uncover the ideal combinations of species and functional groups that not only minimise N2O emissions and enhance overall nitrogen use efficiency, but maximises yields. With a solid foundation in Zoology, I earned my undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin. My thesis there explored the world of mycology and molecular biology, with a specific focus on identifying tree pathogens coexisting with Ash dieback using DNA barcoding techniques. Through my academic journey, I've developed a keen interest in ecological research, conservation, and the intersection of biology and agriculture. I'm excited to contribute to sustainable agriculture practices and share insights from my current research on optimising grassland mixtures.
