Danielle has led program development, strategy, coordination, and advocacy initiatives in the non-profit and social services field for over 10 years. Her work centers gender equity and gender-based violence eradication with a focus on human rights and social justice, mental health and trauma, and intersectional experiences. Currently, is the Senior Manager of Programs and Advocacy at Aura Freedom International, where she drives forward powerful initiatives to prevent gender-based violence and human trafficking. With over a decade of experience spanning frontline clinical work, group counselling, research, training, consulting, program design, and strategic advocacy, Danielle brings a combination of frontline insight, systems thinking, and lived experience to her work, particularly as a queer, Filipina survivor of GBV. Recently, Danielle supported the development of the "GBV In The Media" project, and is an author of National Guidelines on Gender-Based Violence in the Media - which she recently presented to the UN Women as a successful project for gender-based violence prevention. She has written and consulted on briefs for various levels of government, including the Brief for Aura Freedom's Urgent Call to Action, which successfully saw Intimate-Partner Violence declared an Epidemic in Toronto. Danielle has consulted for various organizations including Victim Services Toronto, Law Commission of Ontario, the United Nations, and more. She has both led and supported various program and project initiatives to address gaps in services, including independently developing a 10-session psychoeducational group counselling program for a Violence Against Women (VAW) program, working on a Sexual Violence Prevention Taskforce with Humber College, and developing content for a Human Trafficking Youth Symposium with over 22,500 attendees.
