I am a marketing professional, educator, and author with over 25 years of experience in brand development, digital marketing, and strategic communications. Currently, I serve as the Program Head for Digital Marketing and Brand Strategy at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). In this role, I lead curriculum development, oversee program direction, and collaborate with industry leaders to ensure our programs meet the demands of an ever-evolving field. I also teach courses in brand strategy, social media marketing, and entrepreneurship at both BCIT and Capilano University, helping students build the skills they need to thrive in the marketing world. Before entering academia, I honed my expertise working with some of the world’s leading advertising agencies, including McCann, BBDO, and Cossette. I’ve had the privilege of developing campaigns for major brands like McDonald’s, General Motors, Rogers Media, and BC Hydro. My career has spanned diverse industries, from tourism and healthcare to technology and consumer goods, and I take pride in driving impactful results through strategic planning and creative execution. In addition to teaching, I am an author with Pearson, contributing to the 8th Canadian edition of Marketing: An Introduction and the upcoming Foundations of Digital Marketing. My writing brings together practical insights and the latest industry trends, covering topics such as the role of artificial intelligence, digital media strategies, and sustainability in marketing. I’m also deeply committed to advancing education beyond the classroom. At BCIT, I’ve spearheaded initiatives like the redesign of the Marketing Communications curriculum and the creation of the School of Business + Media’s first master’s-level credential. Through my consulting practice, Hello It’s Danielle, I work with businesses and entrepreneurs to develop marketing and brand strategies that help them achieve their goals. I hold degrees from the University of Western Ontario and Harvard University, and I’ve been honored to serve as President of the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association and to be named one of Business in Vancouver’s 40 Under 40. When I’m not teaching, consulting, or writing, I love exploring the dynamic relationship between brands, consumers, and culture. I’m passionate about helping others succeed in their careers and make the most of their lives along the way.
