About Danilo Arruda

I am a PhD in Kinesiology with expertise in ergonomics, human factors, biomechanics, virtual reality, and data analysis. Currently, I work as an Industrial Injury Prevention Specialist, helping workers stay safe by teaching proper movement techniques, collaborating with safety teams to optimize work design (e.g, workstations and workflows), and implementing ergonomic strategies to reduce injury risks. My academic journey began with a B.S. in Exercise Science (2013), where I conducted research on 2D motion analysis and physical testing for diverse populations. I then earned a M.S. in Kinesiology and Health (2021), focusing on Perceptual-Motor Control and Learning, with research on how attention impacts movement coordination in volleyball athletes. My work resulted in a thesis, peer-reviewed publication, and conference presentation. During my PhD in Kinesiology, with a minor in Ergonomics/Human Factors, I investigated affordance perception in virtual reality and cybersickness, using kinematics, center of pressure analysis, time-series analysis, and machine learning to uncover key patterns and triggers.
