Hi. Welcome! I am an Engineer graduated in occupational safety and industrial hygiene and I am fascinated by risk management and management, and also enjoy reading, films, and documentaries about industrial accidents. A book I really like is: What Went Wrong? Case Histories of Process Plant Disasters and How They Could Have Been Avoided by Trevor Kletz. I find pleasure in case studies and how we can learn from accidents. I was once asked during a course on risk analysis with the Bow Tie methodology: • Why do accidents happen? This question impacted my point of view related to accidents. • Have you ever thought why accidents happen? • Why do they happen and will they continue to happen? Then I went deeper into these issues and found that I needed to review my goals and purposes. I once read the following message from Mahatma Gandhi:"Our beliefs become thoughts, thoughts become words, words become actions and these repeated actions become habits. And these habits form our values and our values determine our destiny." It's been fourteen years working for safety and I have been building values that today determine my destiny. My main purposes are: • Influencing people to change their values in relation to risk perception; • Help building a society that is aware, concerned and engaged with the management of social and environmental risks; Talking about organizations, help on the contribution to: • Safety culture; • Engagement of people in risk control; • Communicating risks appropriatly and effectively; • Management and management of risks and changes; • Establishment and monitoring of controls; • Continuos improvement; • Do not allow accidents to happen and/or reduce their impact on the organization's objectives. My most important goals for the next two years are: • Complete the specialization in Integrated Management System (IMS) and training in Lead Auditor ISO 9.001/ISO 14.001/ISO 45.001 by Bureau Veritas. • Start specializing in disaster risk management and business continuity at PUC Minas. I am a person who values respect, friendliness and cooperation. I believe that education, humbleness, and that putting yourself in the other's shoes can bring forth kindness and understanding. However, not everything is perfect. I seek to improve in several aspects: communication, organization, emotional intelligence, resilience. Nothing is good enough that cannot still be improved.
