About Danilo Leite

As an AI Engineer and Researcher, I develop multimodal systems that integrate Large Scale Language Models (LLMs) and Computer Vision to solve complex challenges in the healthcare and agriculture sectors. I have been applying Large Scale Language Models (LLMs) to integrate systems that combine image analysis and natural language understanding. I have developed tools that generate descriptive reports from visual data, interpret complex technical documentation, and support decision-making with richer, more contextualized insights. I have a PhD in Decision Models and Healthcare from UFPB, with postgraduate studies in Information Security and Data Science. My background in probability, statistics, and optimization supports my work both in model design and in the interpretation of results in diverse application contexts. I have contributed to intelligent systems that address real-world challenges such as data scarcity, environmental variability, and production-level performance demands. Key projects include- Vineyard segmentation using drone and satellite imagery to support precision viticulture- Voice-based AI triage, polyp detection, and ophthalmological image analysis for diagnostic support- Deployment of deep learning models in production environments with scalability and security requirements. I have experience with a variety of architectures, from neural networks for Computer Vision (CNNs, U-Net, Vision Transformers) and sequence data (LSTMs), to classical Machine Learning models (SVM, Random Forest, XGBoost). My technical stack includes PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, and R/RStudio for statistical modelling and data analysis, integrated into scalable pipelines with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices. In addition to my technical skills, I have developed core competencies for effective AI work- Clear communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders- Problem solving and analytical thinking in complex scenarios- Continuous learning to keep up with the rapid evolution of the field. I am currently an Artificial Intelligence Researcher at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), in Portugal, participating in projects in the areas of agriculture and health.
