Background
About Danni Hickey
Opinions are my own I graduated from Florida State University in the summer of 2019 with a degree in History, and a minor in Gender Studies. I focused my arena of studies on the gendered dynamic that existed in Early Modern France's approach to medicinal versus magical practices for addressing the illnesses of the common person. From there, I began working in the human services field. My career began running an emergency homeless shelter opened during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. From there I went on to run the Tallahassee office of Catholic Charities overseeing homeless assistance and rapid rehousing programs in eight counties. After my tenure there, I was hired as the International Rescue Committee's first Anti-Trafficking Housing Specialist for Tallahassee and implemented an OVC funded program for the first time in their 10 county jurisdiction. I am a fierce advocate for housing, income inequality, and queer rights.
