About Danny Becker

I am a young professional eager to make a positive impact in community building across diverse communities in both the United States and the world. Upon graduation from Michigan State University in December 2014, I entered the world of cross-cultural and cross-ethnic relationship advocacy. This utilized my degrees in Comparative Cultures and Politics and International Relations to bring skills of creating open spaces for dialogue across diverse spaces and educate student leaders on diverse college campuses about a range of topics, including outreach and relationship building, diverse narrative construction and analysis, and Israel-related history and education. I joined MIT's Center for Public Service in May 2018, where I led our student outreach and engagement strategies with a focus on racial and social justice. I graduated from Boston University School of Social Work in May 2022, after completing two clinical placements as a clinical therapist, working closely with children, teens, young adults, couples and families as I acquired licensure as a clinical therapist (LCSW). I have supported clients on a range of topics from management of anxiety, depression and other diagnoses; sexuality, sex education and sexual violence prevention; and with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy techniques. I began my current role as a clinician at MIT Medical in August 2022, as a clinician on the access team, MIT Medical's walk-in mental health service. I am a licensed clinician in the state of Massachusetts. In addition to existing skills, including fluency in two languages and an eagerness to create positive and motivated team-oriented work environments, I have been awarded a range of awards based on my ability to cooperate and succeed with fellow professionals in my field, led large groups of student leaders on international experiences in Israel, and have managed and coordinated up to 30 student interns and fellows at one time. I hope to continue to build upon these skills and adapt them to a range of political, ethnic and cultural communities, including but not limited to the Jewish community, Latino community and LGBT community. I hope to one day be a driving force in bringing these and other communities together to support one another's initiatives and platforms while embracing their own personal experiences and understanding the contexts within which they exist.
