About Danny Edwards

I am a committed professional with a passion for innovation, development and cooperation. My career is focused on health policy, IP and innovation in an international context. My background encompasses project management, engagement, research, policy development and team building skills. I am organised, analytical, and above all I enjoy supporting and learning from my colleagues. I thrive in a supportive team atmosphere. I initially pursued and secured experience at the World Health Organization, followed by a stint in UK Gov with responsibility for reviews of embryology policy at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority. My international experience was solidified during a post at the UK Intellectual Property Office where I was responsible for representing the UK Government on trade and development issues. I deepened my experience in health research and development while based in Geneva at COHRED, followed by a move to Amsterdam to take up a role at the Access to Medicine Foundation. While at ATMF I had the absolute privilege over almost 7 years to watch - and help - a start-up NGO achieve stability and international recognition while making a real impact on the approach of the private sector to sustainability. More recently I held a management role at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, focused on equitable access to HIV prevention tools. Today I remain engaged in IP and innovation, and provide advice and support at the European Patent Office, with a focus on cooperation between our office and key stakeholders, including international organisations.
