Then came OO where I spent many nights with vi coding C++ on Pyramid and AIX platforms struggling with the Cfront compiler. Sometime later I discovered the Rogue Wave C++ class library. how that String class changed my life! I was introduced to a programming language code-named Oak. Disliking the language at first (what, no pointers?), it eventually grew on me. The language was renamed Java. I loved Microsoft Visual C++ and its ability to support both C++ and Java development made writing JNI calls in Netscape Navigator (remember that?) so much easier. A brief foray into UI, Java applets, AWT and Swing. I moved back to the server side where I developed application service frameworks and services that standardize, simplify, and accelerates development.
