About Danny Heathman

I am passionate about advancing the equal opportunity and status of people with disabilities. In college, I was the president of the student organization dedicated to improving accessibility and cultural awareness of people with disabilities. My first job out of college was a one-year contract with Microsoft testing their products for usability and compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Afterward, I began an administrative role at the Lighthouse of the Blind, eventually becoming the assistant to the president of the company, Mike May. Looking to the next step in my career, I have spent the last year studying accessibility at Deque University, and will soon have a CPACC from IAAP. In January of 2020, I will begin an eight-month certificate program at the University of Washington for Front End Web Development. My career goal is to put my experience, skill, and passion to work to maximize the accessibility of the world wide web for everyone. The worldwide web is not only the most important gateway to personal and professional opportunities, it is one of the most promising platforms for accessibility.
