Daniel O’Connor is an audit principal and the Alternative Investment Service Line Leader at Richey May & Co. Daniel’s areas of specialization are focused within the Firm’s Alternative Investment Group, specifically domestic and offshore hedge funds, fund of funds, real estate, private equity, REIT’s, broker dealers, 40’ Act funds, commodity pools and asset/mortgage backed securities partnerships. His experience includes advising clients on organizational structure and the review of investment partnership agreements for structure and accounting compliance. Daniel is experienced in dealing with a variety of investment strategies and products, such as long and short securities, debt and structured credit instruments, swaps, commodities and futures, and private investments. Daniel was extensively involved in the valuation process of asset/mortgage backed securities, and was considered one of the firm experts when he was an audit partner with Rothstein Kass. Daniel was considered one of the most experienced partners in the firm when it came to quality control reviews and unique valuation situations for asset/mortgage backed securities funds. Daniel is a strong leader within the firm and is looked to as a model of excellence. In his career he has been involved in various committees and headed up the RIC team (Registered Investment Company) while at Rothstein Kass. He has helped co-author many white papers and thought leadership pieces while a partner at Rothstein Kass. Daniel is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (COCPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Colorado Alternative Investment Group. Daniel is also a certified hedge fund professional and carries the (CHP) designation. He has over 10 years’ experience in the alternative investment field and is looked to as an industry expert by many of his peers.
