Danyi Deats About me: I am a seasoned veteran of the music video, commercial game. I have spent my entire life living directly in the shadow of the Hollywood sign working at all the typical production companies. I grew up in on set in a 'film family' My dad was a key grip so was his brother and so on. For the last couple years I’ve been in Hawaii healing and learning about plant medicine and PTSD. During my break, I’ve been working on my writing - I took a one on one memoir class during the covid lockdown. I have so many great stories. I've been producing music videos and commercials for over twenty five years. I've been working in production itself for over thirty. I’ve met so many amazing and talented characters I have won countless awards and have had the opportunity to work with some of the best talent that our industry has to offer. When pressed for my pedigree I just say,"My father has an Oscar for technical achievement - my son is now co-professor of cinematography at Art Center :) My early years: In 1976 I did my first film in front of the camera with Spielberg at the age of 9. I was cast as the lead extra terrestrial in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". I spent six months on set in a flying suit learning acrobatics and modeling alien one piece body suits. In 1983 at age 15 I was cast in Madonna's very first music video "Borderline". Yup, that's me with the mohawk. After that I did dozens of bit part appearances on sit coms and soaps. I worked on a film called the "All Nighter" with Joan Cusack and Susana Hoffs. At the of age 19 I starred as Jamie a naked murdered girl in "The River's Edge" with Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, and Crispin Glover. My work resume: I direct/produce music videos and other types of film/digital content. I am proficient in both film and digital shooting. I have extensive post experience. I owned a production company called Mirror Films since 2002. We produced commercials, and long form viral media. I am free-lance now - free to work and produce at other companies. My status: divorced now after 22 year marriage to my executive producer and business partner Eric Barrett. Our kids are grown 25,21,18 Noah Jade Zane These days I'm working on a series of novels "Bad Company".(Like Shopaholic series) It follows the behind the scenes life of a music video producer and her girlfriends in LA from the 80’s til now.
