About Daphne Bechrakis

Hello! I am passionate about public librarianship and making a difference in my community. One of my favorite sayings about public libraries is that it is one of the few places that does not care about someone's wallet. I believe that libraries are for everyone and that every patron should be treated with dignity. I love that public libraries are a space where patrons of all economic classes, knowledge, backgrounds and abilities can come to learn, grow, and socialize. My permanent professional goals include- Increasing various kinds of literacy proficiencies for my patrons, especially technology literacy - Solidifying the image of the library as a modern, social part of the community as well as a trustworthy knowledge center - Helping teens and tweens find their voices and develop into young adults - Curating more diverse stories within the library collections so my patrons can see themselves and others in quality, varying stories - Encouraging a deep love of reading in all ages - And providing a welcoming environment for all who use the library
