About Daphne Madzima

As a PhD candidate in Sociology at Nelson Mandela University, I am passionate about understanding and improving the society and its dynamics. My research focuses on the role of gender, culture, and religion in shaping social movements and development outcomes. I have published multiple papers and presented at various conferences on these topics. At NMU I am working as a graduate part time tutor and that involves reinforcing lessons by tutoring individual students or small & or large groups,also creating lesson plans, documenting progress and marking work, facilitating seminars. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have been a voluntary grassroot organizer at ZEA of the United Methodist Church since March 2018. I work with communities and stakeholders to identify and address their needs and challenges, such as poverty, health, education, and human rights. I use my communication, project management, and leadership skills to coordinate and facilitate various initiatives and events, such as workshops, campaigns, and fundraisers. My goal is to contribute to positive social change and empower marginalized groups.
