About Daria Blach

I have always been fascinated by how light interacts with matter, whether it’s probing the properties of new materials or enhancing measurement techniques for real-world applications. With over seven years of hands-on experience in optics, laser systems, spectroscopy, and material characterization, I specialize in designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex optical setups to extract meaningful data from challenging environments. At Berkeley National Lab and Purdue University, I’ve led interdisciplinary collaborations developing optical tools for nanomaterials characterization for next-generation technologies. My work has resulted in six first-author publications and over ten conference presentations, demonstrating my ability to bridge fundamental research with practical problem-solving. Beyond research, I am passionate about applying optical engineering and materials science to real-world challenges, whether it’s improving laser-based diagnostics, enhancing optical metrology, or developing next-generation spectroscopy techniques. I thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments where I can tackle hardware challenges, optimize instrumentation, and drive innovation.
