About Daria Casciani

Product designer, researcher, adjunct Professor, lecturer at the Politecnico di Milano and lighting specialist consultant developing lighting fixture projects from the concept phase to the full development for research scopes. I hold a PhD in Design from Politecnico di Milano with a research about the Social and Human Implication and Experience of Urban Lighting. My main expertise areas are: lighting design research (trend research + technological research + user experience research) lighting product design (concept generation + product development + tangible prototyping with rapid prototyping techniques), lighting assessment (objective measurements a+ subjective tests). I have lectured extensively for graduate design students in Design Laboratories, in Digital Representation Techniques Course and Lighting Design & Engineering Course. I have also guided graduate thesis in lighting product design. I work as Professor at the Master in Lighting Design & LED Technology for the LED lighting product Course and the Hospitality Lighting Design Course. I facilitate workshops in professional and academic contexts. My experience in the product/furniture design field and the scientific approach developed during the years of research in Academia enables me to develop design and research about innovative and meaningful products in the lighting design field considering both the luminous performance, the energy efficiency, the technological advances, the production feasibility and the users’ experience as well.
