About Darin Casey

While pursuing my BA in Human Resources, I did an internship at HyVee, fell in love with the company decided to grow my career in retail operations management. I've achieved success and longevity in a field that burns many people out. What I love about retail is the fast pace, continuous customer interaction, and working alongside my team rather than being tied to an office. My adaptability and skill at managing unpredictable and changing circumstances make retail a good fit because every day is different. As a team leader, I strive to fully understand my team, their capabilities, and talents which allows me to maximize productivity, efficiency. And employee engagement—even when we're understaffed. My team would say that I'm fair and empathetic, yet I set clear expectations and hold people accountable. They know that when workloads are high, I jump in and work with them to get things done. We all have a job to do, and when we each own our part, we succeed as a group, which is a huge benefit for the company. I've held many roles in the HyVee organization over the past 16 years, including Assistant Manager and Manager of General Merchandise, Store Operations, Perishables, Dairy, and currently Bakery. I opted out of moving up to Store General Manager as that would require relocation, which is not an option for my family. Instead, I decided to stay with HyVee and take on management roles in different areas of the store. Within the past several years, the organization has moved to a more centralized workflow which reduces specialized areas and management positions within each store, so I've decided to seek a new direction. What I hope to find in my next position is the opportunity to contribute and make an impact at a company with a great people-focused culture.
