About Darnell Holt

I am an Associate for National Accounts, Agriculture Banking with Scotiabank. I am currently based in a role supporting the various business needs and requirements for Agricultural farmers and entities. My role explores and assists the customizable financial solution side of agriculture dedicated to providing solutions to each individual customer needs above $20MM. I am a recent graduate student at the University of Saskatchewan in the Masters of Agriculture and Resource Economics. Within my masters, I completed a research project with two organizations called Pea Protein Omics Determination (P-POD) and NSERC-CREATE – Canadian Agri-food Protein Training, Utilization and Research Enhancement out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The research analyzes what consumers value in a clean label, and how the preferences for clean labeling in a reduced ingredients list context, impact demand for pea-based proteins. I am fascinated by the complex problems that we face with food and protein development and the role each factor can enhance in developing sustainability, agriculture, and consumer behaviour. I am also inspired by the opportunities that these challenges present for the development of exciting and innovative solutions going forward. I have a growth mindset and enjoy learning new skills, programs, or operations. When I am working on a project, whether it is for a client/customer or the company itself I am always motivated to complete it on or before deadlines as efficiently and safely as possible.
