About Darragh Beecher

My twin passions are evidence-based healthcare and social equality. I have spent the past two decades working at the Oral Health Services Research Centre, UCC, to further the evidence base for water fluoridation, an equitable, effective dental public health measure to prevent dental decay that is free and easily available by simply drinking fluoridated tap water. I strongly believe in working towards a more just society, with equality for all. I am particularly concerned to uphold the rights of patients involuntarily detained in hospital due to their mental health, and I work with the Mental Health Commission to safeguard them. In my teaching, I strive to use UDL principles that are evidence-based and facilitate access by all students.
