About Darran Chapple

I joined the University of Central Lancashire, Law School, on the 21st October 2019, after 18.5 years at Bradford College where I was the Head of School,(Law, Business and Public Services). I teach Tort, Criminal Law and Equity & Trusts at uclan, as well as supervising Dissertations. I have experience of drafting law, & business curriculum under various validating bodies (Teesside, Leeds Beckett & Bolton Universities), working with PSRBs and external examiners as well as leading presentations at validation events. As an undergraduate, I undertook a joint internship with the DA’s Office in Charlotte, North Carolina & University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For my LLM I produced a word thesis titled `A Three Tier Structure of Tortious Liability` which potentially contributes to the fusion debate,(fusing criminal & civil law). To do this I explored taking a Criminal Law concept of recklessness & inserting it into Tort Law as a basis for liability between the intentional Torts and Negligence. My ongoing EdD (doctorate in education) is evaluating the extent to which Deep Learning is evident in a College based VLE.
