About Darrell Donakowski

I have over 20 years of experience in survey research, management, administration of complex surveys, data dissemination and best practices in archival standards. I have been the ANES Director of Studies (DS) for over ten years. ANES Time Series studies have been conducted since 1948, and I was the director for the 2008, 2012, and 2016 studies. I was responsible for general project management, coordination with data collection partners, oversight of public communication and outreach activities, and protection of archived study materials. Working with the Principal Investigators (PIs), I directed and supervised the efforts of the project staff, monitored the budget, created timelines and deadlines, and ensured continuity in the ANES program of research. During the field period, I monitored the progress of the study daily, listened to tapes of interviews, and supervised quality control work performed by ANES staff. I also review contracts and invoices from the survey organization and other subcontractors. Once the field period was completed, I directed all aspects of data dissemination, including public releases of data and updates to website resources. At the end of the grant periods, I assisted with the reconciliation of accounts and filing of final reports to funding organizations. Throughout each four-year grant cycle, I represented ANES at national conferences and annual meetings and provided presentations to diverse audiences.*Available for new opportunities, as of September 1, 2018* Darrell Donakowski dwdonako@umich.edu
