About Darrell Monk

I have over 30 years of experience in the retail industry that began in the grocery business as a cashier. Employed by Stater Brothers Market, I worked my way up from the bottom to various leadership and managerial positions. I was then hired as a Store Director for Smith’s Food and Drug, where I remained for several years. From Smith’s, I went on to work for Office Depot as a Store Manager. My career with Best Buy started in 1998, as the Inventory Manager at the Victorville, California store. From there, I worked my way up to the Sales Manager position, where I went on to prove my knowledge and skill as the Merchandising Manager. In time, I was promoted to General Manager of the store in Rancho Cucamonga, California. After Rancho Cucamonga, I moved on to San Bernardino’s larger box store as General Manager. After a few years in San Bernardino, I earned the opportunity to open Best Buy’s Apple Valley store, which was closer to my home. Later, I moved to the Victorville location, as the General Manager. Having been employed at Best Buy for over 14 years, has required me to be constantly innovative, find new ways to delight the customers, and bring together the teams I work with. As General Manager, I help meet the needs of our customers by leading a skilled group of men and women who provide solutions in technology and entertainment. I am involved in all aspects of the Store’s operations, which include: merchandising, analyzing retail performance; and identifying current trends. Most importantly, I work hard to motivate my people to do their best and to reach their individual career goals. As a result, I have helped many associates get promoted and move up in the company.
