About Darren Dewitt

I'm Darren! My research/corporate experiences are vast - incorporating aspects of manufacturing engineering, materials science, geophysics, optical materials, ceramics, and shooting light at cells (to name a few!). I enjoy the challenge of becoming an expert in a field in which I am not. Interdisciplinary projects are what I find most stimulating, as I can satisfy my desire to learn new topics while simultaneously applying my knowledge base to conquer tomorrow's most challenging problems. Research wise, I have over 8 years of experience with materials processing, powder consolidation, and characterization. My interests include (but are not limited to) novel methods for materials processing/manufacturing, optical materials, enhancing mechanical and optical properties, tinkering, and the never-ending exploration of alternative uses for materials/products. Outside of the research lab/office I enjoy music, weightlifting, hiking, climbing, and exploring new places.
