About Darren Johnson

Our world is continuously changing, this has always has been the case. I continually seek to realise, align and actualise the opportunities Life presents me, to experience the available diversity Life always present. That's exciting to me. As part of a tremendous team of exceptional people overseeing RAN capability needs and their development, my role provides me an enormous opportunity to realise the most effective option of capability and lethality into to the future RAN Fleet design. Through continuous development and engagement with diverse groups of experts, subject matter experts and importantly fellow Royal Australian Navy personnel, the wider ADF for cross-domain collaboration, our key partners in Defence Industry and Overseas partners; my journey is filled with continuous opportunity. Realising a vast array of diverse outcomes to the betterment of our nation is my primary focus.Coupled with my own experiences, working with others, supporting them in their journey, I seek to facilitate a common approach to agreed goals, as we shall only succeed as a team. Fundamental to all the above, I am always seeking the optimal outcome for the people that must serve within, operate in the RAN major surface combatant units.My focus always as an Engineer, working in the areas I have responsibility, is to keep pace with the technologies, their application and necessary support systems to our Navy units, current and future capability, providing the Sailors of the RAN every opportunity to successfully achieve their task, get home.
